• Description:The modularity of the TM 500 series allows manyfunctions to be performed by the plug-in modules. TheTM 515 (Traveler)power module mainframehas been designed for portability.It holds up tofive plug-in modules and includes a comfortable, luggage-type handle and molded feet on the bottom. It is moisture and dust resistant and can withstand the rigors of transport. The rear cover pops off to access the power cord and power switch, and to allow airflow for the built-in fan. Itprovides unregulated ac and dc supplies and non-dedicated power transistors for use by the plug-ins. The mainframe does not have a high-power compartment (so care must be taken in selecting modules), but does feature forced-air cooling.

  Withfive plug-in modules installed in the mainframe, theTM 515mayrequire up to240 W of power at the upper limits of the high line voltage ranges. The actual amount of power consumed depends on the particular module combination and operating mode selected at any one time.

  Although the plug-in modules of other Tektronix product families are very similar, they are not electrically compatible. The TM 506 interface has barriers on the mating connectors between pins 6 and 7 to ensure that incompatible modules cannot be inserted. The TM 500-compatible plug-in modules are easily identified by the white color of the release latch.

  The modularity of the TM 500 series allows manyfunctions to be performed by the plug-in modules.
